AT & T Corporation
AT & T Corp., originally American Telephone and Telegraph Company, is an American telecommunications company that provides voice, video, data and Internet telecommunications and professional services to businesses, consumers and government agencies. During its long history, AT & T has sometimes been the largest phone company, the world's largest cable TV operator and a regulatory monopoly. At its peak in the 1950 and 1960, it employed one million people and its turnover amounted to about 300 billion per year in 2006.
In 2005, AT & T was purchased by Baby Bell SBC Communications for more than $ 16 billion ($ 19 billion today terms). SBC then renamed itself AT & T Inc. Today, AT & T Corporation continues to exist as long distance subsidiary of AT & T Inc., and its name appears occasionally in the press release from AT & T.
